EHC Fluid Degradation Control with Offline Filtration
Despite a full EHC fluid replacement, rapid degradation occurred within months. Continuous offline filtration reduced MPC by more than 80% and improved fluid resistivity, helping protect system reliability and extend fluid service life.

Executive Summary
A 3,000 L EHC system experienced rapid fluid degradation shortly after a complete oil replacement. MPC increased from 6.1 to 34.4 within six months, while resistivity dropped from 75 to 20 MΩ·m. The accumulation of degradation products had previously contributed to final filter blockage upstream of the control valves, resulting in an operational shutdown.
To address the issue, a C.C.JENSEN PEU 3x27/54 offline filtration unit equipped with PEx1 and PEx3 filter inserts was installed and operated continuously while the system remained online. Within three weeks, MPC was reduced from 34.4 to 6.9, and after seven weeks remained stable at 6.4. During the same period, resistivity improved from 20 MΩ·m to 47 MΩ·m.

Reduced fluid degradation
MPC reduced from 34.4 to 6.4 after seven weeks of continuous filtration.

Lower maintenance risk
Continuous removal of degradation products reduces the risk of filter blockage and control valve issues.

Improved fluid resistivity
Resistivity increased from 20 MΩ·m to 47 MΩ·m, indicating improved fluid condition.

Extended fluid service life
Protects the recently replaced 3,000 L fluid charge and reduces the need for premature oil replacement.

Results
Within only three weeks of continuous offline filtration, MPC decreased from 34.4 to 6.9 and continued improving to 5.1 after seven weeks. This represents an overall reduction of more than 80%.
At the same time, resistivity increased from 20 MΩ·m before filtration to 33 MΩ·m after three weeks and continued to improve to 54 MΩ·m after seven weeks.
The results demonstrate that continuous offline filtration can effectively restore and maintain EHC fluid condition while reducing the operational risks associated with fluid degradation products.
